Hi, I’m Lady! I used to be called Shelly, but when I met my veteran, Cathy, she decided she wanted to change my name to Beautiful Lady, or Lady for short. And I think it suits me pretty well.

My story started when I arrived at Cincinnati Animal CARE in August. I was pretty shy at first, especially around the dogs in my foster home. But it didn’t take me long to figure out that following everyone outside for playtime was actually a lot of fun. Before long, I was happily joining in!

Then I met Cathy. She served in the Army from 1976–1982 and was deployed to West Germany. She was looking for a little dog who could get along with her roommate’s 12-year-old Cockapoo service dog, so we had a little meet-and-greet to make sure we were a good match.

And guess what? I think we are going to be buddies.

Cathy fell in love with me, and on September 16, I officially got to go home with her. I’m still learning the rules around here. Apparently, trying to sneak out the front door is frowned upon, so my family got me a kennel to keep me safe when the door is being used. But if I’m going to have a kennel, you better believe this beautiful lady needs a hot pink carrier.

I’m settling into my new life, and my family is loving having me around. I think I’m going to like it here. After all, every Beautiful Lady deserves a place to call home.
