Veteran Companion Animal Services began in Central Ohio with a simple but powerful idea: rescue dogs can help rescue veterans. What started as a local mission has grown into a movement — connecting veterans and shelter dogs through healing, purpose, and lifelong companionship.

As the need continues to grow, so does our vision. Through our chapter model, we are expanding VCAS into new communities so more veterans can access our programs, more rescue dogs can find loving homes, and more families can experience the life-changing impact of the human–animal bond. Each VCAS chapter operates with the same mission, standards, and veteran-first commitment — while building partnerships with local shelters, volunteers, donors, and community organizations to meet the unique needs of their region.
