Rainy days are notorious for being “no fun”. Especially when you have been planning the perfect hike and suddenly you’re stuck inside. Take the month of April times this predicament and bam: you’ll quickly run out of fun indoor options. Even more so, rainy days can have a pretty impactful effect on your overall mood and well-being. What better way to keep your spirits up than spending some quality time with your pup? Here’s 5 ways you can keep the fun going inside for both you and your furry buddy:

  1. Teach new tricks

Take on the challenge to exercise both you and your pup’s mind. The process of teaching new tricks can strengthen the bond between you and your pup and better his/her concentration, which leads to improved behavior.

Be sure to incorporate some low calorie treats into your training! You’ll be sure to keep your fur kid’s attention.

Why You Should Do Yoga With your Dog and How To Start

  1. Try a new recipe

Comfort food can be a good go-to option when you’re feeling sad. After all, chicken noodle soup is good for the soul! Why not for your doggie’s soul, too? Most occasions there is a “no table food” rule. But, there are “human” foods that your dog can enjoy with added health benefits. For example, carrots are low calorie, a great source of Vitamin A, and can clean your dog’s teeth while chewing. Peanut butter is a great source of protein and Vitamin E, which is a healthy fat. Aside from that, it’s just plain yummy. Be sure to do a little research on the foods you want to feed them beforehand. Not everything made for us is made for pups!

  1. Play a game

Okay, from personal experience, nothing gets my dog going more than a toy with hidden treats. It keeps him occupied and challenges his mind. Not only that, it’s so fun for me to watch his gears turn as he tries to figure out how to get the treats out. Then I get to feel like a “proud dog mom” as he finally achieves retrieving the treat.
